Soft Boiled Eggs with Buttered Toast

Ingredients:

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 slices of bread (your choice, like sourdough or whole wheat)

  • 1-2 tablespoons butter

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Boil the eggs:

    • Bring a pot of water to a boil. Once boiling, carefully add the eggs and reduce the heat to a simmer.

    • Boil the eggs for 5-6 minutes for soft, runny yolks. Adjust the time slightly if you want the yolks firmer.

    • Once done, transfer the eggs to an ice bath or run under cold water to stop the cooking process.

  2. Toast the bread:

    • While the eggs are cooking, toast the bread slices to your desired crispness.

    • Once toasted, spread butter generously on the warm bread. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper if desired.

  3. Serve:

    • Peel the soft-boiled eggs and place them in an egg cup or on a plate.

    • Serve with the buttered toast, and use the toast to dip into the soft yolk!
